Carter Rembert’s Eagle Scout “Court of Honor”, August 23. Worcester Troop #133.
Carter spent many hours with his colleagues and the Worcester Historical Society to complete this valuable survey of trees which followed the original work in 1976 to identify the heritage trees of Worcester that were 200 years old. See Bill Heyser “The Methacton Oak, etc”, page 333 Worcester Book. In the following, let Carter describe his project in his own words:
My Eagle Scout Project involved partnering with the Worcester Historical Society and Township to document dozens of the township’s oldest trees as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations. I organized volunteers to locate and measure each tree, calculated its estimated age, and created an interactive online map allowing the public to view each tree’s location, species, measurements, and age. I designed commemorative signs recognizing the oldest tree of each species, coordinated their engraving and installation, and worked with a drone specialist to capture aerial footage of the historic trees.
I concluded the project by presenting the results to township officials, creating a lasting educational and historical resource for the community.
