Dutchie Pews
As most of you know, the Worcester Historical Society owns the Dutchie Church on Valley Forge and Heebner Roads. We recently informed you of the Dutchie Oak located near the cemetery which we grew from an acorn. Inside the Dutchie, it was determined that we had far too many pews in questionable condition. Local Worcester craftsman, Brad Smith of Bradford Woodworking, volunteered to repurpose some of the old pews into a more modern design. The sample in the photo can be seen now in the Farmer’s Union Hall Museum. The wood in the seat is Elm which has not been in Worcester for over 100 years making these very old pews indeed. Hopefully, by our Christmas Open House, we could have a few available for sale. We are very grateful to have Worcester Residents like Brad interested in preserving Worcester History. As a reminder we are open Saturday mornings in September and then closed until the Christmas Open House.
