This family cemetery along with the Methacton Mennonite Church contains the oldest burials in the township, dating to the mid-1740s. Once part of the Peter Wentz, Sr. property, this family cemetery is enclosed by a stone wall and probably contains 22 to 23 graves. The oldest burial is that of Elizabeth LeFevre Wentz (1746), the wife of Peter Wentz, Sr. The stones have been “re-etched” at least twice since 1984, and although surely done with the best of intensions, this has caused some damage. Early sources imply that the inscriptions were not always interpreted properly. Descendants of the Wentz family are still permitted to be buried in this cemetery.
