Schweiker Murals
We received a wonderful donation for our museum: two murals of pastoral scenes in Worcester done in oils on canvas. The murals are 8′ by 4′ each. We have stabilized them and they are currently hanging upstairs at the Farmers Union Hall. They come from the Roy and Anna Schweiker home on the corner of Hollow and Skippack Pike and were created by John R. Pierce. John R. Pierce was an artist born in Spring City in 1900 and incorporated local landscapes and landmarks into his work. He attended Philadelphia School of Industrial Art as well as the School of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and had a career illustrating for commercial companies. Afterward, he became a full-time, freelance artist who created portraits and landscapes.
